EDITORIAL: Moved My Band to Brooklyn, Doing Well for Ourselves

February 15, 2015 Music 154

Finally took the plunge and we’re happy for it, seems like thing are going well.  Coverage on a couple really good sites, new moog (vintage) on the way from a western union transfer on a craigslist ad, and got some new contacts with a couple guys at Vice.  Everyone, friends/family, told me it was a mistake and I’d end up working at Whole Foods and barely surviving, but we’re making some really good connections, and I feel like as a band we’re writing the most inspired and original stuff we’ve ever written.  It’s an inspiring city, lots of culture and good food.  But I moved here to work, really WORK on my craft and I feel like that’s what we’re doing.  Got some good shows lined up at Piano’s and Bowery Electric upstairs, and I think we’ll have a good turnout.

-Daniel Cody Somners, guitarist/synth, The Night’s Long and I’m Barely Awake

What do YOU think guys, big mistake or career changing move?  Sound off below!!!
